Daily Cleaning

Want your floors to last forever? Keeping them clean is the key! Using entry mats and protective pads under furniture will keep the dirt away and trap debris before it reaches your floors. Each day, sweep and dust mop and when the stains and spills happen, clean them up promptly to avoid damage to the tiles. For more stubborn spots, use a mild cleaner designed  just for VCT floors. Mop floors daily with a neutral pH cleanser- but keep your mop on the damp side instead of soaking wet- that extra water can get into seaps and damage the floor.  

Periodic Maintenance

Periodically (weekly or as recommended depending on traffic) buff the floor using a low-speed floor buffer and a soft pad to restore shine. This helps maintain the floor’s appearance, especially in high-traffic areas. Buffing and burnishing high traffic areas will leave a great impression, smoothing over scratches and imperfections and leaving you with a high gloss luster floor. And with regular  

Additionally, Every few months, you may need to apply additional coats of floor finish or polish to maintain the protective layer. A scrub and finish  procedure is used for refinish floors with finish in good condition, not dull, but may have scratches and soil on top layer of the finish only.  This process  removes soil and the damaged top layer of floor finish without disturbing healthy layers of finish underneath. Then a new floor finish is applied. 

A maintenance program that includes regular buffing and scheduled scrub and recoating  will extend the time needed between full stripping and waxing of the floors, which is a more intensive and costly procedure! 

Annual Stripping and Waxing

Every 12 months (depending on traffic), a full strip and wax will be needed. This involves removing  all of the existing finish so that new finish may be applied.  The wax finish creates a barrier from scratches, stains and dirt. You will not believe how smooth and even they will look when it’s done! Not to mention the natural hues and patterns that are brought out, enhancing your floors natural beauty and color.
